Whidbey Island Rescue for Equines

General Information

What Is Sponsorship

When horses first arrive at WIRE, they are not healthy horses. It can take many months to rehabilitate them so that they are adoptable. Rehabilitating a horse not only consists of vet care, farrier care and feed, but often times training or retraining. Some of this we can do here at WIRE, and sometimes the horses needs to go to an outside trainer, which costs money.

Some of the horses also require special treatments such as chiropractic work, and/or massage. In some cases, the horses may require surgery before they are adoptable.

Sponsorship of a horse helps pay for these costs.

When a person sponsors a horse, the will receive a photo of the horses they are sponsoring, a sponsorship certificate, monthly updates on how the horse is progressing in his/her rehabilitation, and a wonderful feeling knowing that they are making a difference. Sponsorships can be for any monthly amount you are comfortable with.

Horse Available for Adoption

WIRE’s goal is to rehabilitate all horses that come to us and adopt them out to new and loving homes. Most of the horses that come through WIRE are adoptable once they have been rehabbed, even if just as a pasture pet. If you are interested in adopting one of the horses we currently have available, please contact us. We can also arrange for you to meet the horses at other local horse rescues that may have that special horse you are looking for which we currently do not have at our rescue.
